 At Holzer Medical Center - Gallipolis, caring for the health needs of the community goes beyond providing exceptional care to our in-patients and out-patients. Better health is a matter of reaching out to the communities we serve. Education, support groups, and disease prevention comprise the core of our mission, but as you will see, the variety of services and events provided by the Health and Wellness Department at Holzer are extensive and something new is always happening throughout the year.

 Online Wellness Center
Holzer’s Online Wellness Center provides an extensive resource for information on many health related topics. Look up your concern or interest with the click of a mouse. Here you will find topics ranging from parenting and diabetes prevention to information on chronic health problems and how to stop smoking. A library of news articles is also a feature of this online wellness center.
Support Groups
You shouldn’t have to face your problems alone. Others have been down the same road and have accumulated a variety of experiences. Their wisdom can be of value, as can the companionship and support of those who are in the same situation as you.
Holzer Health Systems offers a variety of support groups, including groups for Autism, Cancer, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, and Grieving Parents, and Hospice Support. To learn more, please visit our Support Groups page.
Classes
A variety of classes are available throughout the year, covering topics of health interest to the many segments of the community. Health related classes include such standards as Breast Feeding, Diabetes Self-Management, Infant & Child CPR, Preparation for Childbirth, and Stroke Education.
Health & Safety Fairs
 Each year Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis sponsors a Community Health & Safety Fair in September. Screenings are done for many typical health factors, from cholesterol and blood pressure to bone density. The New Haven Fire Department brings a fire safety trailer, teaching kids how to respond in the event of a fire in their home. The Police Department provides special goggles that help drivers understand what it is like to operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
If you are interested in having a health or safety fair for your organization, please Contact our Community Health Department. These events are conducted for schools, corporations, and communities. Always featured is a non-fasting cholesterol glucose screening, BPs body fat analysis (BFA), bone density, health information. Other entities such as Gallia County Health (for hearing tests) and FACTs for drug prevention information are invited to each event.
