Nursing Services with Holzer Health Systems is a constantly changing and expanding service line. Nurses take care of patients who have acute medical, surgical, cardiac, renal, oncology obstetric, pediatric and rehabilitation needs provided by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.  Supporting these individuals are unit secretaries and monitor technicians. 

Each patient care unit has a Unit Manager who is responsible and accountable for the short and long term opoerations of their respective area. 

We strive each day and on each shift to have an RN-to-patient ratio consistent with national recommendations and published studies. We staff our units utilizing a target census for patient acuity. This census is adjusted at least once per year, and sometimes more frequently.  By staffing according to a pre-established census, managers are able to schedule staff each day and each shift for a fixed point. This fixed point is based ond etailed census tracking, including the activity on the unit, observation patients, and inpatients.  Acuity is taken into account when patient care assignments are given.
