Services at the Appearance Center
The Appearance Center staff sees about twenty people each month, working with them to provide wigs, liners, scarves, and hats. We are also able to replace bras, prosthesis, and tracheotomy bibs for those who need them.
On the third Monday of each month, the Appearance Center offers a “Look Good, Feel Better” program through the American Cancer Society. This program is headed by a Certified Beautician/Cosmetologist who volunteers her time to teach cancer patients (typically women) useful makeup techniques, nail care, and skin care. Options for hair loss are also considered, including styling guides for wigs, scarves, and turbans.
We work hard to provide each patient with the self-confidence to smile and take on a more positive attitude. Walk-ins are welcomed and encouraged.
Common Questions
How much does it cost to take care of a wig?
As long as a cancer patient needs the wig, our Beautician/Cosmetologist (who leads the Look Good, Feel Better program) will clean and style the wig every six weeks. Also, our volunteers work with each client to educate them on economical ways to maintain their wig.

There is an assortment of wigs in blonde, brunette, black, gray, auburn, and snow white. We also carry a variety of hats and scarves.
