Holzer Cardiovascular Institute History & Personnel

The Holzer Cardiovascular Institute was established as an LLC, joint venture between the Holzer Medical Center and the Holzer Clinic in 2001. Dr. Englund and his staff had been running a successful cath lab for over a year and plans were made to develop the lab into a “heart center.” In 2004, an open heart back up team was added to the components and soon after that stenting and angioplasties were made available “in-house.”

In 2005 HCI brought the Mended Hearts to our “Heart Team.” The Mended Hearts is a volunteer based national organization affiliated with the American Heart Association. Each member has either been an open heart patient themselves or a supporting spouse to an open heart patient. This has proven to be exceptionally beneficial to patients in their time of recovery, and even more helpful to the family during the “waiting time” that the patient is on the table. It is the goal of the Institute to form their own Chapter of Mended Hearts at Holzer.
