November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month
Holzer Health System is designated as a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Holzer began its Low-Dose CT Scan Program on September 1, 2015 and to date has completed over 2,065 studies. By obtaining and utilizing the Whedon Cancer Detection Foundation grant funds, Holzer is able to offer a limited number of screenings for individuals who qualify.

Drug Take Back Drive-Thru Events Held in Gallipolis and Pomeroy
Gallia County Sheriff's Office, Gallia County Citizens for Prevention and Recovery (CPR), Meigs County Sheriff’s Department, Meigs County Prevention Coalition, and Holzer Health System were proud to offer a recent Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26 at the Holzer Gallipolis Campus. October 26 was recognized by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) as National Drug Take Back Day, which is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired drugs. In Gallia and in Meigs, there were 32 and over 60 pounds, respectively, of unused/expired prescription and over-the-counter medications collected, giving a grand total of over approximately 92 pounds collected.

Holzer Recognizes November Pediatric Sponsors
The Earl Neff Pediatric Fund at Holzer Medical Center continues to be supported enthusiastically by area businesses and organizations. The Pediatric Fund, in existence for over 45 years, has supplied needed toys, equipment and entertainment to the thousands of pediatric patients who have received care from Holzer Health System's Pediatric Units.
