Holzer’s Wound Care Center Celebrated Fifth Anniversary
Wound Care staff members attend their open house celebrating their 5 year anniversary on November 9.
The Wound Care Center at Holzer Medical Center - Jackson, a member of the Healogics network, recently celebrated its fifth anniversary. To recognize their anniversary, an Open House was held on Thursday, November 9 with staff providing tours of the department for anyone interested. One of nearly 800 Healogics managed centers; Holzer Medical Center - Jackson offers advanced therapies to patients suffering from chronic wounds.
Holzer Wound Care Center is recognized as a Center of Distinction Award by Healogics, Inc. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal, and other quality outcomes.
It is estimated that chronic wounds affect 6.7 million people in the U.S. and the incidence is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and the late effects of radiation therapy. Untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an essential part of chronic wound treatment plans. This type of medical treatment increases the amount of oxygen in the patient’s blood, allowing oxygen to pass more easily through the plasma into wounds. In the chamber, the patient is surrounded with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure. Throughout the treatment, the patient is supervised by a specially-trained physician and monitored by a technician.
Holzer Wound Care Center ® is staffed with a unique team of doctors, nurses, and therapists, all dedicated to healing chronic wounds. The causes of wounds are complex, and our team offers expertise in all areas needed to handle your wound circumstances.
State-of-the-art equipment and leading edge therapies are also playing a role in reducing the risk of amputation. Holzer Wound Care Center ® offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. People with wounds that have not improved with traditional methods of treatment in four weeks may benefit from a visit to Holzer Medical Center - Jackson. For more information, call 740-395-8484.
