Holzer in Lights Celebration
Holzer Gallipolis will be hosting its Annual Holzer in Lights celebration on Tuesday, December 3. Events will begin at 5:15pm with a performance from the University of Rio Grande – Grande Chorale and the Gallia Academy High School Madrigals in the Holzer Center for Cancer Care Healing Garden. At 5:30pm, Holzer Center for Cancer Care will host their Illumination of Hope tree lighting. All are welcome to join us to honor/remember loved ones, friends and coworkers. Ornaments for the tree can be purchased in memory or in honor of loved ones with all proceeds utilized for Holzer Center for Cancer Care patients. You can purchase ornaments by calling (740) 441-3572 or visiting our online event available on Holzer’s Facebook account.
Following the Illumination of Hope, Holzer will light up holiday decorations at 6:15pm, including over 35 trees lining the front walkway of our campus. We are inviting local Jeep owners to decorate their vehicles and bring them to the event. These decorated entries will be parked along the trees for the community to view. The best decorated Jeep will win a free entry to the 2025 Holzer Jeep Poker Run.
From 6:30pm to 8:00pm, we invite everyone to vote on the People’s Choice award for the trees, view additional decorations in the Holzer Courtyard outside of the cafeteria, where Santa will be on-site to visit with children. The Gift Shop will be open featuring a variety of holiday selection to jumpstart your holiday shopping.
In addition, the Holzer New England Village Outdoor Display will be in the front entrance of the Hospital. In 1958, the miniature New England Village began at the Holzer Hospital on Cedar Street in Gallipolis, Ohio. The church was the first miniature building constructed with Paul Nibert, then Director of Physical Operations for Holzer, acting as architect and construction engineer. Over the years, a colonial house, general store, and one-room schoolhouse was added to the display. Each building features a variety of miniature details, including people, as they prepare for the holiday season. All the details were created by Holzer staff over the years, adding to the uniqueness of this display.
Holiday decorations will remain available for the public to view until January 2, 2025. For more information on the upcoming event, call (740) 446-5901 or email info@holzer.org.
