What is Infusion?

Infusion therapy is the administration of medications or nutrients directly into the body. It is possible to infuse many medications with the latest advances in technology and medical treatments. Some of the most common reasons for infusion therapy: Chronic Pain, Dehydration, Gastrointestinal (GI) Problems, Heart Failure, Immunodeficiency Disorders, Malnutrition, Neuromuscular Disorders and Serious Infections. Complex medical conditions, such as Crohn’s Disease, Anemia, Multiple Sclerosis, Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and Rheumatoid Arthritis can also be treated with specialty medications through infusion.

What is Injection?

Infusions make up the majority of what our nurses do in the infusion rooms, but they also do injections and PICC (Peripherally inserted central catheter) line dressing changes. We also offer our infusions for patients not of Holzer. These providers simply need to acquire the prior authorization for the infusion, then fax the order to our infusion coordinator at 740-446-5284.
