'I Have Wanted To Be A Physician Since I Was A Young Boy'
- Dr. Charles Zierenberg - Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine
"My father is also an Orthopedic Surgeon in Puerto Rico," he continued. "I watched him work and was inspired by his work ethic. I have always been amazed at his skills, his inventions, his ability to find a solution for the most complicated problems, and his dedication to his patients. I decided early in life that I wanted to follow in his footsteps. I watched my father work late into the night or go back to the hospital in the middle of the night simply because he loved his job and cared about his patients. I asked him one time if he would rather have a different career and his reply was, 'If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t change one thing.' I wanted to feel that way about my career, and I can honestly say that I do."
"I never look at a patient and see a broken leg that needs to be placed in a cast and follow-up appointment. I see the 12-year-old boy that is going to miss his basketball season due to his bone lesion. I see the mother that cannot take care of or even see her children because she is in the hospital recovering from surgery. I desire to continue providing excellent orthopedic care to patients from different walks of life to help them return to the lifestyle they had prior to injury."
