Dr. Hissa is well versed in orthopedics, including joint replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine and adult reconstruction, and also has trauma experience.
"In this specialty, it’s common to treat a wide range of ages. There are many types of injuries that are associated with orthopedics. We are proud to offer care to everyone in our communities, from children to those who are 80 plus years old."
Dr. Hissa received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, completing his surgical internship and orthopedic residency at The Cleveland Clinic. Before joining Holzer Medical Center – Jackson, he practiced medicine at Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, Lake Hospital System in Painesville, Ohio, and also operated a private practice. Dr. Hissa practiced in Cleveland beginning in 1981 and served as an orthopedic surgeon at the Cleveland Orthopedic Center in Cleveland, and as a fellow in orthopedic trauma at the Tampa General Hospital at the University of South Florida. He joined Holzer Medical Center - Jackson in 2008, and returned to the Holzer System in 2012, where he currently provides care at our Gallipolis and Jackson locations.
Dr. Hissa is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, Ohio Medical Association, and the Academy of Medicine in Cleveland.
Dr. Hissa resides in Jackson with his wife, Evelyn. They enjoy spending time with their grandchildren, working their vineyard and orchard, gardening and travelling.
